So I purchased a 600w hortilux bulb yesterday, as I’ll be switching over to HPS in a couple of weeks or so. I screwed the bulb in, fired it up and watched in flicker for a few seconds – then closed the door and walked away for a bit to let the bulb get warmed up and monitor the temp change in the room.

I came back about 45 minutes later or so (only a 5 degree jump in temp – not bad!), opened the door…………and HOLY SHIZNIT!!! It looked like a friggin’ nuclear reaction going on in there! I was absolutely stunned and how bright the room was – it was almost surreal!! It almost makes me afraid to leave it on while I’m sleeping or away from the house :)

Alright, this is probably a useless post, but for anyone that has only used CFLs – you need to see a nice big HPS bulb in all it’s glory – truly impressive!!
