Friend busted, HELP!!!!

Now, 2 weeks ago, my 3 friends, Jeff (18), Dane (18), Zach (16), and I were driving around in my mom’s car. I don’t have my license yet, (in the process) so Jeff was driving. Dane was sitting in the passenger seat and Zach and I were in the back. None of us have ever been in trouble with the law or anything. WE all go to school and blah blah you get the point.

So this is how it went down. We were all chilling at Jeff’s house and I have a quarter of bud with me. I sat it on the table so everyone could check it out. We were getting ready to take off and we were gonna take the bud and sell it at a party we were going to. None of us smoke that much. So the bud was on the table and I picked it up and was about to put it in my pocket when Dane said he would hold on to it. He put it in his pocket and we took off. We were driving along and we were getting ready to go on the highway when blue lights were glaring behind us. We were all like fuck.

So Jeff pulled over and the cop comes up to the window and Jeff gives him all the paperwork. The cop then tells us that we have a burnt headlight. (Reason for the stop). The cop said to just get it fixed. He then asks us if we have anything in the car and if we would let him search the car. We were all very nice and respectful so it kinda shocked us that he was asking to search. We didn’t say anything and he told Jeff and Dane to get out of the car. They searched Dane and found his weed. They put him in the back of the cop car. I told the cop that it was mine and that I should be the one going to jail not him. I tryed telling him, but he said that I didn’t have it on me so I was all good. We all three got back in the car and we left. Later on that night we bailed Dane out of jail. Now the thing is, Jeff (the driver) wants me to try to take the fall. He thinks that we all should go to court and try to get all or some of the penelty on me. Which I think is bullshit because Dane asked to hang on to it. I want to help my friend out but I don’t think I can get in any trouble now. Could I get charged if I say it was mine? What would happen to my license I’m getting in a month? Would I get probation or is it too late? What should I do?
